Your low point is £20,673 in month 4 — less than one month's outgoings. That's a thin cushion; keep a close eye and have a backup plan.

    Projected cash balance

Your balance carried forward over the next 12 months.

    How the forecast works

A cash flow forecast rolls your balance forward month by month: last month's closing cash, plus money in, minus money out. This calculator grows your monthly income by the rate you set and keeps costs steady, then projects 12 months ahead.

Closing balance = Opening balance + Cash in − Cash out
(repeated for each month, carrying the balance forward)

    Why it matters

Profit and cash aren't the same thing. A forecast shows the actual money in your account over time, so you can see a squeeze coming while there's still time to act. The number that matters most is the low point — if that dips below zero, you have a problem to solve before you get there.

    Frequently asked questions

What should I put for cash in and cash out?

Use a typical month's actual cash movements, not accounting profit. Cash in is money you expect to land in the bank (customer payments); cash out is everything leaving it — payroll, suppliers, rent, tax, loan repayments.

What does the growth rate do?

It grows your monthly cash in by that percentage each month to model a growing (or shrinking, if negative) business. Set it to 0 to keep income flat.

Is this the same as cash runway?

They're related. Runway is a single number — how many months until cash runs out at today's burn. A forecast shows the whole path month by month, including months where you're cash-positive, so you can see the timing of any low point.
